Kebabs are cooked meat dishes and well known in Middle Eastern cuisine. They are popular all around the world. You can find these types of dishes in almost every city you visit.

Today we make kebab using lamb and bacon and season it with onion, cumin, dry basil, salt and black pepper. After forming the meatballs, we fry it in oil. You can grill or bake if you prefer.

This dish can be served with fresh lettuce, tomato, cucumber and Greek yogurt sauce, which is made of Greek yogurt, garlic, and shredded fresh cucumber.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 8 oz bacon
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 onion
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Mince your onion into fine cubes then chop the bacon to pieces. Combine ¾ of the onion and all of the bacon together. Reserve ¼ of the onion for later use. Transfer this bacon mix in a food processor. Crush the pieces to create a consistency similar to a paste.
  • Combine the ground lamb with the leftover onion pieces. Season with spices and include the bacon and onion paste into the mix. Knead the meat until firm enough to be a kebab. Make sure to make a mixture that will not separate when cooking.

  • Fry the formed kebabs in olive oil till they become golden on all sides and cooked through.
  • Transfer to a plate and serve.
