I recommend using homemade mayo that doesn’t contain artificial additives and hidden sugars. Be sure to use avocado oil in place of soybean oil when making your mayo.

Also, be sure to buy a wild-caught brand of canned tuna that does not contain added preservatives or sugar. I also recommend looking for a low-sodium brand.

Tuna and avocados pair well together. I like that you can use the avocados as boats to add your filling into. This makes for an easy cold appetizer if you’re expecting guests you can make the tuna mixture ahead of time and add it to your avocado when it’s time to eat.

To make this dish, combine tuna, mayonnaise, red onion, parsley and lemon juice, salt and pepper in a bowl. Slice avocado in half lengthwise, remove the pit and scoop out avocado flesh to create bowls.

Scoop out an avocado and cut it into dices then fold into tuna mixture. Stuff avocado boats with prepared tuna salad, top with tomato quarters and enjoy!
