Kettle and Fire Bone Broth and Keto Soups Review

Share to save for later!

If you’ve been indulging yourself into the ketogenic diet world, or regardless of your diet, this superfood is going to help improve your health tremendously.

The super food I’m about to introduce to you today is bone broth, which is rich in the amino acids glycine, proline, the protein gelatin and minerals. There are so many amazing benefits of bone broth which I will discuss more below.

We will be reviewing the “Kettle and Fire Bone Broth”, a very popular brand with three amazing and tasty popular products.

They also offer a line of keto and paleo soups that contain chicken and beef bone broth in them. We had the pleasure of trying several soups and bone broths.

Kettle and Fire Review

To provide a thorough review of the product, I will be analyzing all aspects of the Kettle and Fire Bone Broth in terms of:

  • Quality – We’ll have a look at the ingredients and what makes it healthy or not healthy
  • Source – Assessment on the source of the bone is critical in understanding the nutritional value of the bone broth
  • Benefits
  • Taste – No point having a healthy product if you can’t keep it down
  • Pricing – You can’t really enjoy a product to its fullest potential if you feel the burn in your pocket every time you consume it

Benefits of Bone Broths

Packed with all the essential minerals that you could ever ask for, bone broths make a healthy (and yummy) addition to your meal prep. Being a bioavailable mineral source, bone broths are easily absorbed by your body thus increasing the benefits of calcium, magnesium, sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, glucosamine, and chondroitin sulfates through consumption.

Put simply, bone broths are known for the following health benefits:

  • Boosting your body’s immune system
  • Improving asthmatic and arthritis conditions
  • Ease symptoms related to leaky gut syndrome
  • Helps control allergies
  • Improves food tolerance
  • Enhances joint movement
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Reduces cellulite formation

Bone broth by itself is one of the best collagen boosting foods you can have. Kettle and Fire bone broths are infused with collagen, calcium, L-glutamine, glucosamine, and glycine making it one of the best bone broths available on the market.

I have yet to come across another brand that offers the same quality as Kettle and Fire in terms of ingredients and source which puts Kettle and Fire in my good books.

What is the Kettle and Fire Bone Broth?

The concept of using bone broth to enhance the flavors in your food isn’t new and has been a traditional method of cooking for as long as the pot and pan was created.

The difference that Kettle and Fire bone broth brings to the table is the health aspect of it being organic and high in quality.

Kettle and Fire bone broths were created in aim of being the highest in quality and healthiest bone broths that you could find on the market. The company prides itself from deriving the bone from knuckle, patella, femur, and feet bones of organic and free-range chickens and cows.

In terms of providing variety in their bone broths, Kettle and Fire sell many different types of bone broths.

  • Quality and Source of Kettle and Fire bone broths

In order to truly assess the quality of Kettle and Fire bone broths, we have to look at the ingredients.

According to Kettle and Fire, all of their bone broths are organic filled with bones (knuckle, patella, femur, and feet bones) and vegetables, sea salt, and herbs.

Their bone broths do not contain any:

  • Artificial ingredients
  • Preservatives
  • Additives

This means you won’t suffer any adverse side effects from consuming Kettle and Fire bone broths due to the safe ingredients not containing artificial substances, preservatives or additives.

It’s also Gluten-free, Non-GMO, organic, dairy-free, and soy-free which ticks all my boxes when it comes to a high-quality broth perfect for my keto diet.

Another point that I like about Kettle and Fire bone broths is the long shelf life which emphasizes the meticulous packaging ensuring that the product stays fresh and stable throughout its lifetime.

  • Source of the Bone

Emphasis should be made on how the chickens and bovine used in the production process of the bone broth are hormone-free and antibiotic-free which is important in maintaining a clean and healthy keto diet.

The cows and chickens are raised in small family farms that do not partake in the use of added hormones and antibiotics thus satisfying the safety levels of Kettle and Fire bone broths.

If you don’t know the effects added hormones and antibiotics have on you, I highly recommend reading this article published by the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health titled “Risk Assessment of Growth Hormones and Antimicrobial Residues in Meat”.

In other words, stay clear from added hormones and antibiotics – they’re a big no no when it comes to living a healthy life (and besides, you only get one life after all!).

  • A Natural Source of Collagen

According to Kettle and Fire’s website, they simmer their “100% grass-fed bones with organic ingredients for 20+ hours to pull all the collagen, proteins and amino acids from the bones into [their] broth. The result is a bone broth that’s rich, delicious, and has 19x more collagen than the closest competitor (as certified by an independent lab)”.

So all of that sounds fine and dandy and if what they say is, in fact, the truth and not just a marketing sham, well then, that’s a pretty good account of their quality.

Disclaimer: It’s hard for me to pinpoint whether the collagen from the bone broth has been effective although I do like the idea of it being there. I am guilty of being a little narcissistic and using some keto collagen products on a daily basis so it’s hard for me to say that the collagen from Kettle and Fire bone broths have resulted in my skin looking pretty.

  • Pricing of Kettle and Fire Bone Broths

What astonishes me is how Kettle and Fire bone broths come at a reasonable price tag given the quality you receive and when comparing with other bone broths on the market.

#1. Coconut Curry and Lime

The ingredients in the Coconut Curry and Lime chicken bone broth are as follows:

  • Chicken bone broth (water, organic chicken bones, organic onions, organic carrots, organic fennel, organic leeks, organic apple cider vinegar, organic thyme, organic shiitake mushrooms, organic tamarind extract, organic bay leaf)
  • Organic coconut milk
  • Organic Thai curry paste (organic chicken flavor, organic chile, sea salt, organic onion, organic ginger, organic carrot, organic lemongrass flavor, organic coriander, organic cumin, organic onion powder, organic paprika)
  • Organic coconut aminos (organic coconut nectar, sea salt)
  • Organic lime juice concentrate

If you don’t like the taste of plain beef or chicken bone broth, then you have to try this recipe. It’s sweet, rich, and creamy. There is no better flavor combination of coconut and curry. You won’t even be able to tell it’s bone broth!

Despite being incredibly flavorful, this bone broth only has one gram of net carbs per serving. This makes it the perfect addition to sweeten up your keto diet.

We recommend that you pour the contents of this bone broth into a pan on the stove, heat it up on low heat, and then sip it like coffee. Avoid the microwave if you can, which can kill off some of the healing nutrients.

This coconut and cream based bone broth would also make an excellent addition to a homemade zucchini pasta dish. If you miss the creaminess of alfredo sauce, then try making a healthier version using this as a base.

#2. Broccoli Cheddar Soup with Chicken Bone Broth

The ingredients in Broccoli Cheddar Soup with chicken bone broth are as follows:

  • Water
  • Organic cream
  • Organic cheddar cheese (organic pasteurized cow’s milk, salt, organic annatto, enzymes)
  • Organic chicken bone broth concentrate
  • Broccoli
  • Organic salted butter (organic pasteurized cream, salt)
  • Onions
  • Dehydrated garlic
  • Organic Parmesan cheese (organic pasteurized cultured milk, salt, enzymes)
  • Xanthan gum
  • Salt
  • Mustard
  • Organic spice
  • Nutmeg

If you’ve ever been to Olga’s and had their broccoli and cheddar cheese soup, then you know how delicious this flavor combination is. The problem is that most cheese and broccoli soups contain too many carbs to be eaten on a low-carb diet.

This Ketto and Fire broccoli cheddar soup contains 3 grams of net carbs per serving. You get two servings in one box, which makes it a perfect soup for you and a friend to enjoy. Serve this soup alongside a salad and you have the perfect lunch.

The directions recommend that you heat it and sip it as coffee or two. This is one of the few chicken bone broth recipes that you can do that with. It has a rich, creaminess and smells great when you heat it in a pot. It’s best served when heated and eaten as soup.

You can serve this soup at your next dinner party with some low-carb crackers and you’ll have an appetizer that everyone will love. You can jazz this soup up and make it heartier by adding steamed broccoli and cheddar cheese to it while you’re heating it up.

#3. Mushroom Bisque Soup with Chicken Bone Broth

The ingredients in the Mushroom Bisque Soup with chicken bone broth are as follows:

  • Water
  • Organic cream
  • Organic chicken bone broth concentrate
  • Mushrooms
  • Organic salted butter (organic pasteurized cream, salt)
  • Organic Parmesan cheese (organic pasteurized milk, salt, enzymes)
  • Mushroom both
  • Onions
  • Xanthan gum
  • Dehydrated garlic
  • Sea salt
  • Lemon juice concentrate
  • Organic spice
  • Spice

Most bisques that you get at a restaurant are rich and creamy, but they also contain questionable ingredients. These may include vegetable oil, sugar, and flour to help thicken it up.

This mushroom bisque soup contains all of the flavor you’d expect from a bisque with none of the guilt from poor quality ingredients.

We like that it has no added sugars or preservatives. It also contains 2 grams of net carbs per serving, which makes it a perfect keto drink. This one might be hard to sip on like coffee, due to its savory flavor.

We recommend pairing this soup with a salad for a complete lunch. You can also enjoy this soup with low-carb crackers for a snack in between meals.

You can also use it as a base for a heartier soup. Add chopped chicken, mushrooms, onions, garlic, and olive oil into a stovetop pan and heat until all ingredients are cooked. Add cheese, heavy cream, or more butter for a creamier dish.

#4. Beef Bone Broth

The ingredients for the Kettle and Fire Beef bone broth are as follows:

  • Marrow bones from pasture-raised, 100% grass-fed cows
  • 6 grams of protein per serving
  • 10 grams of collagen per serving
  • Onions, organic carrots, organic celery, organic parsley, sea salt, black peppercorn, bay leaf, thyme, rosemary extract.
  • Apple cider vinegar

Being my favorite Kettle and Fire bone broth, the Beef broth tastes awesome and will be a great addition to your kitchen if you like the taste of beef.

The fact that it comes from grass-fed cattle makes the broth even more appealing to me as quality is the key to healthy living and nailing my keto diet.

#5. Mushroom Chicken Bone Broth

The ingredients for the Kettle and Fire Mushroom Chicken bone broth are as follows:

  • Organic chicken bones and feet
  • 10 grams of protein per serving
  • 6 grams of collagen per serving
  • Organic Portabella mushrooms, organic celery, organic roasted Poblano pepper, organic green pepper, organic onions, organic carrots, organic garlic, organic scallions, organic tomato puree, organic herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary, basil), organic spices, sea salt
  • Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom powder
  • Apple cider vinegar

If you’re looking into getting the Kettle and Fire Mushroom Chicken bone broth, you will be pleased to know (as I was)  that they add in organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom which is a superfood that has been proven to increase cognitive function and energy levels.

I can vouch for the effectiveness of the energy levels and the feeling of being more alert and awake when mixing the Kettle and Fire Mushroom Chicken bone broth with my meals. I’m not sure if it’s because it makes everything taste nicer which is why I feel more alive or whether it’s the superfood that is awakening the lazy side of me.

Either way, I personally find it quite motivating as an addition to my daily meals.

#6. Chicken Bone Broth

The ingredients for the Kettle and Fire Chicken bone broth are as follows:

  • Organic chicken bones and feet
  • 10 grams of protein per serving
  • 6 grams of collagen per serving
  • Organic celery, organic roasted Poblano pepper, organic green pepper, organic onions, organic carrots, organic garlic, organic scallions, organic tomato puree, organic herbs (parsley, thyme, rosemary, basil), organic spices, sea salt
  • Apple cider vinegar

Being the least ordered bone broth from Kettle and Fire, the chicken one is my third favorite on the list (given it ranks at number 3 out of 3, a.k.a. last place).

Reason being is that I don’t find it as strong in flavor when you compare it to the beef broth or the mushroom chicken broth. My preference of choice is entirely a taste thing. Some people like beef, others like chicken – I am the former of the two.

Given a situation where I could have neither of the other two, I would be more than happy to order the Kettle and Fire Chicken bone broth over any other product out there in the market as I have yet to find a quality bone broth that comes close to what Kettle and Fire have to offer.

#7. Turmeric Ginger

turmeric ginger chicken bone broth

The ingredients in the Turmeric Ginger Chicken Bone broth are as follows:

  • Chicken bone broth (water, organic chicken bones, organic onions, organic carrots, organic fennel, organic leeks, organic apple cider vinegar, organic thyme, organic shiitake mushrooms, organic tamarind extract, organic bay leaf)
  • Organic ginger puree
  • Sea salt
  • Organic turmeric puree
  • Organic coconut aminos (organic coconut nectar, sea salt)

This bone broth is the ultimate inflammation fighter. It contains antioxidants from an organic blend of spices, antibacterial properties from the apple cider vinegar, and amino acids and collagen from the bone broth.

It’s the perfect blend of unique nutrients that reduce disease-provoking inflammation as well as amino acids and protein to help rebuild damaged tissues and cells.

We recommend using it for deep and intense healing from digestive disorders, skin conditions, thin hair, a weak immune system, anxiety and depression, and more.

We really like that this soup uses organic ingredients, which means that you’re getting as many healing nutrients as possible. This is especially true of apple cider vinegar.

If you don’t buy the organic and unpasteurized kind, then it means that your apple cider vinegar has probably been heated to high temperatures and all the “mother” or healing enzymes have been killed off.

This bone broth has a slightly sweeter taste than other bone broths, thanks to the coconut nectar and apple cider vinegar. Because of this, you might be able to sip it like hot tea when you need a little TLC. Other soups tend to be too savory to sip alone.

#8. Chipotle Beef

chipotle beef bone broth

The ingredients in the Chipotle Beef broth are as follows:

  • Beef broth (water, beef bones, organic onions, organic carrots, organic celery, organic parsley, organic apple cider vinegar, sea salt, organic black pepper, organic bay leaves, organic thyme, organic rosemary)
  • Organic smoked tomato paste
  • Organic chipotle chili
  • Smoked sea salt
  • Organic roasted garlic
  • Organic mushroom extract (organic portobello mushrooms, organic shiitake mushrooms, water)
  • Organic lime juice concentrate
  • Spices (cumin, smoke onion powder)

This Chipotle Beef bone broth is a great way to jazz up regular beef bone broth. It has a great smoky flavor, thanks to the addition of smoked spices in the recipe. It also contains less than one gram of carbs per serving, which makes it a perfect addition to the keto diet.

It would be hard to sip this beef bone broth right out of the box due to its smoky flavor, but it makes a great addition to any beef dish. Or you can use it as your base for a smoky beef brisket soup.

You can also use it to add flavor to your favorite low-carb vegetables. Pour about a half cup of chipotle beef chili to a saucepan with two tablespoons of olive oil, add your favorite low-carb veggies, cover and cook until the vegetables absorb all of the bone broth. Serve with beef.

#9. Chili with Beans

Note: This product is not keto-friendly. The ingredients in the Chili with Beans are as follows:

  • Beef broth (filtered water, beef bone broth concentrate)
  • Ground beef
  • Organic tomatoes
  • Organic kidney beans
  • Organic tomato paste
  • Organic green bell pepper
  • Organic tapioca starch
  • Organic chili powder
  • Organic jalapeno peppers
  • Organic spices
  • Organic honey
  • Sea salt

We can’t think of a better way to spend a fall night than by indulging in a comforting bowl of chili. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to eat this chili if you’re on a keto diet because it contains beans. The recipe also contains honey, which is another non keto-friendly ingredient.

Each package contains two servings. One serving contains 16 grams of net carbs per serving. While it’s a good source of collagen, amino acids, and fiber, you’ll need to make a chili that contains fewer carbs if you’re looking to stay in ketosis.

If you’re not on a keto diet or worried about carbs, then you won’t find a better chili than this one. This recipe contains no artificial sweeteners, GMO’s, MSG, hormones, antibiotics, or artificial colors.

It contains organic ingredients and beef bone broth with amino acids and collagen. Plus, it has a fantastic flavor with just the right amount of spice.

My Final Verdict

You would have probably guessed by now that I’m going to give Kettle and Fire a big thumbs up for their bone broths.

The fact that they’ve created a product that can help my keto meals taste much yummier and less boring is enough to excite me while staying on track to achieve my goals.

And to add the icing to the cake (cake of which we aren’t allowed to have anyway except on cheat days), the high quality ingredients and source of Kettle and Fire bone broths make their products that much more worth recommending allowing me to live the healthy lifestyle I desire.

Without further ado, I wish you all the best in your bone broth adventures and cheers to your success with your keto diet!
